The LANGE 1 DAYMATIC is a self-winding watch from A. Lange & Söhne, closely resembling the famous LANGE 1 model. For the first time, it features a case made of 750 honey gold, which enhances the watch’s charm and pairs beautifully with its brown silver dial. Limited to just 250 pieces, this edition celebrates major historical moments for A. Lange & Söhne, particularly the foundation of German precision watchmaking in Glashütte by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in 1845, and the revival of the brand by his great-grandson Walter Lange in 1990.
The LANGE 1 DAYMATIC was first launched in 2010, showcasing the unique off-centre dial design of the original LANGE 1, but in a mirrored layout. The dial includes the hour and minute display on the right, while the subsidiary seconds and outsize date are on the left. Unlike the classic model, it does not have a power-reserve indicator; instead, it offers a retrograde day-of-week display, adding to the distinctive character of the watch.
The watch comes with a well-proportioned case measuring 39.5 millimetres in diameter and 10.4 millimetres in height, allowing it to fit comfortably on the wrist and slide under a shirt cuff. The balance of the honey-gold case with the brown dial creates an elegant look. The dial’s design includes refined details, like recessed hour and minute circles that emphasize its three-dimensionality, with the outsize date being shown prominently.
The timepiece is fitted with a taupe alligator leather strap, held by a honey-gold buckle. Inside, it utilizes the self-winding manufacture calibre L021. 1, known for its traditional craftsmanship and precision. This movement features a large central rotor made of gold and platinum and has a power reserve of 50 hours when fully wound. The rotor is designed to be visually striking and protects the movement from shocks.
The watch boasts high-quality features, including an oscillation system that incorporates a large balance wheel and a handmade balance spring. The 426-part movement is assembled twice, following strict quality standards, and showcases traditional details like hand-engraved components and decorative finishing that can be viewed through a sapphire-crystal caseback.
